Initially, the band members got together to crash high school proms. however after numerous of music-making progress, they found the idea of crashing proms weren't solid enough to actually express their talents in song-writings. then, oh chentaku was born somewhere in june 2007 when they recorded their first single ever titled polaroid.
comprises of three childhood friends, adib plays the drum, naem on bass, myo plays the guitar and sing for the band. they released their first mini album titled heartbreak ridge was never this arrogant in late 2007 and the launch merrymaking opened by the old time favorite the rhaman and silent killer, yuna.
in 2008, myo decided to further his studies in switzerland, the band went for a yearlong hiatus. however, myo still kept writing songs and proudly released the band's special europe release in spring 2009 titled off-broadway twilights, recorded in zurich, somewhat in an old abandon cushion factory owned by the infamous zurich post-rock outfit the rabbit theory and post-punk revolutionist, dying in motion, engineered by markus - being much specific.
the band got together back in june 2009 and released their first full-length album titled suitcase, a scarf and the departure. one each of the band members have been waiting for to share with the fans and critics. however, after much discussions, adib decided to pursue his dreams and commitments hence leaving oh chentaku early july 2010 but they still remains close friends until today. however this year, the band is making a comeback with new recruits; jimmy on drums, shah on synth/keys, amber on guitar/vocal & sometimes friends helped to session at certain occasions.
contrarily the band or myo going solo, oh chentaku shared stages with hundreds of acts globally, started from very own malaysia, toured in neighboring countries singapore, bangkok and indonesia, then to zurich, luzern, amsterdam, london, manchester, lugano, dublin, tokyo, chiba, york, barcelona and currently planning for a small tour in malaysia with god's will. recently, the band was featured in JUICE's There Goes The Neighbourhood: 12 Local Acts of Eargasm and won the recent TV9 GIG Battle of Indie Bands 2011 held at i-City.
yet, the band is still writing, and here to stay.
